A Glimpse at the Glossary

Aerinn: A curious and emotionally attuned Kelthari who befriends Alex during their time on Kelthar. Her empathy and keen insight play a quiet but pivotal role in bridging the cultural divide between allies.

Bhurnak: A bovine-like species with sideways-sweeping horns. Their peaceful society was upended after a conflict with the Thalkash, resulting in the loss of their seat on the Galactic Council.

Bnell: A wise and soft-spoken Skalduran counselor aboard the Feljnet, known for his long memory and subtle advice.

Council (Galactic Council): The central ruling authority over multiple alien civilizations. Originally founded to maintain balance and peace, it grew increasingly secretive and authoritarian under the dominance of the Xyphorians.

Drenith: Chancellor of the Galactic Council and leader of the Xyphorians. His swift rise to power is rumored to be influenced by his alliance with the Thalkash.

Eimyll: Distrustful and cautious ruler of Kelthar. Her deeply protective nature has shaped the Kelthari's isolationist stance toward the wider galaxy.

Feljnet: A Skalduran ship commanded by Sjall. It is the only known Skalduran vessel equipped with experimental stealth technology.

Kellorians: An ancient race believed to be extinct, once renowned for their mastery of stormfire energy and deep spiritual traditions.

Kelthari: An ethereal and reclusive race known for their stormfire knowledge and longstanding connection to the Kellorians. Rarely seen, but deeply respected.

Krezhal: Current leader of Skaldur. Her increasingly controversial decisions regarding planetary defense and civil freedoms have placed her leadership under scrutiny.

Kvim: Second-in-command aboard the Feljnet. Though loyal to Sjall, he often wrestles with his own judgments about the commander’s decisions.

Laurym: Speaker of the Bhurnak Conclave and wise ruler of that world. Wise and thoughtful, her insight penetrates hidden secrets and reveals truth.

Ley Lines (Stormfire): Invisible currents of planetary energy that crisscross most worlds, including Earth. These natural forces can be harnessed for healing, communication, and defense by those attuned to them—such as the Kellorians and some indigenous humans. The energy is referred to as stormfire in the galactic tongue.

Mrat: Former science officer of the Feljnet. Less devoted than the rest of the crew, Mrat betrayed the mission and now leads growing rebel factions on Skaldur.

Saurith: A Skalduran healing device that stores stormfire energy and can rapidly mend most wounds. Still in early development, it remains a closely guarded Skalduran secret.

Sjall: Commander of a small Skalduran cluster studying Earth and its inhabitants. His strong sense of honor is tempered by compassion—sometimes placing him at odds with more pragmatic crew members.

Skalduran: A reptilian species with fluorescent, mood-responsive skin. Former members of the Galactic Council. They were exiled by Drenith after refusing to comply with Council orders. They distrust the Thalkash and are wary of the Bhurnak.

Starsouls: A term used to describe any being naturally attuned to ley energy/stormfire. Starsouls feel the flow of energy instinctively. Some can channel it with skill; others simply resonate with its presence. All Stormbringers and Stormkeepers are Starsouls, but not all Starsouls are trained or aware of their nature.

Stormbringer (Bringers): A Starsoul capable of channeling stormfire, often to great destructive or healing effect. Feared and revered in equal measure, Stormbringers walk a fine line between salvation and ruin. They are seen as rare, volatile instruments of change. (e.g. the Kellorians)

Stormfire (ley line energy): Revered by many alien races as the breath of a planet’s soul. It is believed to choose its own conduits and to punish those who attempt to wield it without reverence. While humans measure it, the Kelthari and Kellorians commune with it.

Stormkeeper (Keepers): A Starsoul whose role is to balance, stabilize, and sometimes restrain Stormbringers. Stormkeepers are guides, protectors, and co-anchors of stormfire practices. In some traditions, they are considered the “voice of the storm,” while the Bringer is its “hand.” (e.g. the Kelthari)

Surnek: A Thalkash commander known for his brutality. His loyalty to the hive wars with his desire for closure.

Thalkash: An insectoid species capable of flight. Though they currently serve under Drenith, their loyalties are opportunistic. The Thalkash are notorious for prioritizing their own survival and interests.

Torvash: Captain of the Trellik and a former friend of Sjall. He plays a key role in maintaining the fragile Skalduran-Bhurnak alliance.

Trellik: The Bhurnak flagship, captained by Torvash. It serves as a critical link in the Bhurnak and Skalduran alliance.

Tzaril: Sjall’s daughter and chief pilot of the Feljnet. She had been captured by humans for unethical experiments during the events of The Deception Chronicles.

Xyphorians: A highly evolved, aquatic-origin species. Though their homeworld barely survived a tectonic apocalypse, it now serves as the seat of the Galactic Council. The Xyphorians currently dominate Council leadership.
